Part-Time with Growth Potential (Hybrid: primarily in-office with some telehealth flexibility)
About Us/Position Summary:
Mindful Communication Group (MCG) is a therapist-owned outpatient practice providing Speech Therapy, Mental Health, and Early Intervention services across Virginia. We are expanding our Hampton mental health team and seeking a licensed clinician (including Registered Play Therapists, LPCs, LMFTs, and LCSWs), who specialize in treating children, adolescents, and young adults and wants to grow with a supportive, holistic client-centered practice. This hybrid role includes both in-person sessions (Hampton office) and optional telehealth sessions, with availability in the afternoon (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM - flexible).
The ideal therapist is compassionate, skilled, and comfortable working with children and families. This role is perfect for part-time clinicians looking to supplement their income and those who want to work toward full-time caseloads.
Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough client assessments, including diagnostic evaluations, to determine individual treatment needs.
Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT, DBT-informed skills, art therapy, trauma-informed care, play-based therapy approaches)
Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions focusing on issues such as grief, trauma (including PTSD), addiction, gender identity, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral challenges.
Maintain clear, timely documentation using SimplePractice EHR
Maintain proficiency in telehealth platforms to deliver remote counseling sessions seamlessly.
Opportunity to develop or lead future groups (anger management, social skills, parent coaching)
Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, or related behavioral health field.
Current, active state licensure as an LCSW or LPC in Virginia.
Proven experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults
Excellent communication skills for intake interviews and client education; experience with telehealth platforms is highly desirable.
Reliable, consistent afternoon availability (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
Ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with leadership
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
Registered Play Therapist (RPT), RPT-S, or Board-Certified Art Therapist
Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for autism spectrum disorders
Experience with crisis management protocols and crisis intervention strategies
Ability to engage children in innovative, developmentally appropriate interventions
